Used to give addresses to networks not connected directly to the Internet, some private address blocks have been reserved. Those addresses can be used by anyone on Internal networks (Company Network) but can not be routed to the global Internet because that network has public addresses. To protect both network is used a router or a firewall to separate those networks (private and public both viceversa)

192.168.0.0 - 256 classes C or 65,536 addresses
172.16.0.0 - 256 classes B or 4,194,304 addresses
10.0.0.0 - A class A or 2,097,152 addresses
